In depth

Verdict

Cyd Charisse is the selection in the opener with Herne Bay and Papeete as the dangers. The mare does have to give weight all around but she has caught the eye more than once during the Summer and was a ready winner at Southwell last time out. She handles good ground but wouldn't want any worse. Herne Bay and Papeete reoppose again. The former came out on top last time although with a shorter trip and slower going, there is every chance of a reverse. Rightful Ruler may have found 2m4f on the sharp side. The hold up performer has to be taken on trust although his yard have not been far away from the winners. Noyadobayo makes a debut for Nigel Twiston Davies'. Gun Smith has clearly not had ground conditions to suit hence a rather limited spell at the racecourse given his six years of age. He is unquestionably interesting given his solid breeding and the booking of the champion jockey. Marrel has place claims if reporducing his recent Worcester run. Leonardo's Friend showed nothing for a first time visor. Nevertheless, Brendan Powell's stable have sent out a few gambles of late so the market has to be watched closely. Shouldawoudacouda represents the yard that won this last term with Megaton. His recent efforts have hardly set the world alight and blinkers replace the combination of tonguetie and cheekpieces that accompanied his latest start. A competitive starter and we are with Cyd Charisse.
