This is a poor-class handicap and though STAR OF OSCAR has yet to reach a place in six starts over timber he wasn't beaten far in a big field here last month and with his rider's claim to aid his cause can gain his first success under Rules. Ask David has won once, at Tipperary almost two years ago, but has dropped to a winnable mark and ran very well behind Father Jed at Fairyhouse so has to be on the shortlist. Tungsten Kid was well supported in that latter event and would have finished much closer but for a couple of costly mistakes. Longtimesincejaspr started favourite in a handicap over the minimum here on New Year's Eve but was beaten when falling and is better judged on his earlier effort over 2m3f at Naas.
