Verdict

With Bryan Cooper injured and out for some time, Ruby Walsh may pick up more rides for Gigginstown and has been snapped up by Gordon Elliott for LORD SCOUNDREL. The Galway Plate winner was still there with every chance when falling at the second last in the Kerry National and can get back to winning ways. Stable companion Clarcam was conceding him 12lb when beaten just over four lengths in the Plate but would have finished a long way behind at Listowel where the heavy ground wasn't to his liking. Smashing progressed into one of last season's top young chasers ending the campaign with a Grade 2 victory at Navan. He's tackling this trip for the first time and most of his victories have come on very testing ground. Sadler's Risk won last season's Munster National and his close second behind Alechi Inois over 2m6f here in June was another excellent run. A recent spin over hurdles will have put him straight and makes this an intriguing contest.
