In depth

Formwatch

Drama King ran away with a similar contest over 2m1f at the last meeting here, coming home 11 lengths clear of Knockdoo, with Distant Storm further back in third, Charming Admiral fifth, course specialist Black Ice Boy seventh and Martha Reilly ninth. However, the handicapper has been quite severe to the winner and at the revised weights over this further distance it would come as no great surprise if Knockdoo proved good enough to reverse the form. Jonjo O'Neill's horse had no trouble staying two and a half miles on the flat and was doing his best work in the closing stages in that race so the extra distance should not trouble him, and it seems significant that Kevin Darley is again booked to ride. Of the remainder, Batoutoftheblue is generally a reliable type who won at Southwell but was then a bit disappointing back on turf at Musselburgh. A bigger threat may come from Old Feathers, who is a winner over hurdles and on the sand this year and relatively unexposed on the level while Bridie's Pride has generally been running in better company than this but is getting a bit long in the tooth.
