In depth

Verdict

After a really smart debut OUR JONATHAN looks to have really solid claims on this maiden ahead of the mildly progressive Licence To Til while Newbury Street is also in with a shout. You can't really argue with the form supporting the selections chances as he ran a very good race on debut to get close to a pair of very useful looking animals. Both have since proved their talent in a smart nursery handicap off marks in the mid-80s so as long as the pick runs up to that standard he should take all the beating. Licence To Til improved from his first to second run on softer ground but with his pedigree suggesting he should be just as effective on a firmer surface he is entitled to show more again but has a little to find based on the lines from his starts so far. Newbury Street was well held by the one we've just mentioned on his second start last time so it's hard to see that being reversed on these terms and with the other two in this field looking to have only limited chances, Our Jonathan has solid claims.
