In depth

Verdict

Bundy has been knocking on the door of late and can come good at the expense of Bollin Edward, Aintnecessarilyso, Romany Nights and Hiccups. The latter failed to get into the shake-up when a beaten favourite at Ripon recently, and if drawn lower here would have been more fancied. Even so, Lynda Ramsden's four-year-old should not be discounted. However, preference is for Bundy who comes out of stall number six and is a winner waiting to happen. With the Michael Dods team in great form of late, the eight-year-old should be raring to go in a bid to capture this event for a second time, having been successful four years ago off a mark of 64. He can now line up a pound lower, and a repeat of any of his last four efforts at Hamilton would be enough. Bundy has plenty going for him, and if the ground was just a bit easier underfoot, he would be even more strongly fancied, although he is still the one to beat. Bollin Edward and Aintnecessarilyso are closely matched on recent Doncaster form and they too are both well drawn, while Romany Nights could not get into his stride at Chester and can play a part. He is set to give over a stone to Bundy though, and that is surely asking too much against our selection who can get recent losses back.
