Verdict

This should chiefly lay between MILLENIUM ROYAL and Wind Instrument and the Francois Doumen-trained raider is preferred. A thorough stayer, Millenium Royal relishes the mud and this sort of trip, and he has a few pounds in hand at the weights here. The gelding has winning chasing experience in France and was unlucky to unseat on Boxing Day, so we'll take him to get it right today. Wind Instrument has won three of his last five races, including a Chepstow novices' chase. He too stays well and despite being thrashed in Grade 2 company last time he can give a good account of himself. Pangbourne earned a fluke win last time when Topless famously deposited James Davies on the Taunton turf just before the line, but trip and ground will suit and he may well get involved in the shake-up. Wheres Johnny loves this track and soft ground but does have plenty to find on what we have seen of him so far and Millenium Royal is taken to score.
