      Verdict

      WHAT HAPPENS NOW is better known as a chaser but showed he was no slouch over hurdles when gamely holding off Whispering Affair at Cartmel. The first two pulled well clear and he can give the weight away to Air Squadron, who is just in danger of becoming disappointing over hurdles and will have his stamina to prove. Instingtive won over fences at Plumpton in January but that was on heavy going over 2m1f – he hasn’t raced since April and is having a first run for a new yard today.
