In depth

Verdict

A mammoth eight race card with 133 runners taking part. An interesting opener with several of the bigger yards represented. Of those with experience, Dawnus, Ivory Moon and Rossellini look the pick, with the latter getting the nod. From the same family as the high-class Among Men, Michael Stoute's filly caught the eye in a maiden at Newmarket last back-end, when a never nearer 9th behind stablemate Desert Star. She will know more this time and can prove too strong for Dawnus, who shaped with plenty of promise at Newbury earlier this month. Henry Cecil's filly will appreciate the forecast rain and can ensure the selection doesn't have things all her own way, while Ivy Moon also showed she has a race in her when third on her debut at Windsor, but while she is open to improvement, she may have to wait a little longer before she gets her head in front.
