In depth

Verdict

A wide open contest to sort through, but at previous meetings here this year it has been beneficial to have a low draw. Ones who fit that category include Chispa, last years winner Gloaming and Eastern Blue, but the one they all have to beat is Magic Music, who was so unlucky here on her seasonal debut, when drawn high. She made all on the stands' side, but the first three home that day were all drawn low. She can run off the same mark here and with her ability to handle most types of ground, she looks a sound choice. Chispa has been running well in claimers, without quite hitting the target, but she is slipping down the handicap and is 12lbs lower than when last successful nearly a year ago. Gloaming the winner of this last year hasn't been in the best of form of late, but she is 10lbs lower now. Eastern Blue gained her only success here and will surely benefit from the stronger handling she is likely to receive, rather than the apprentice she has carried around so far this year.
