In depth

Verdict

From a large five-day entry, just six stand their ground, with Janayen the pick, having more scope than the likes of Impeller and Tagula Blue. Marcus Tregoning's filly, having shown promise on her Goodwood debut in May, duly improved enough when next seen out at Windsor a fortnight ago. Her trainer's patient approach obviously paid off and she does not look overburdened. Indeed she looks the sort to go up the ratings by another 10 lbs at least now that she has bloomed, and should not have the same trouble in running that she encountered when scoring at the Berkshire track. The market suggested that she was fancied then, and she will be backed to follow up. Tagula Blue is a course and distance winner and may well be up to Listed class next year as he is reckoned to be a slow maturing sort. Impeller meanwhile has paid his way this term and was only caught on the line at Newmarket. That was a definite return to form and he can make Janayen pull out all the stops, without quite being good enough to stop this lightly-raced daughter of Zafonic from prevailing.
