      Verdict

This is another fascinating contest in which Shariki, Alasoun and Bitter Chill look the three to concentrate on and the vote is given to Shariki. The selection made a really pleasing debut at Windsor when finishing second behind the fairly useful Genre. He is sure to come on for that experience and this Derby entry looks to have been found a good opportunity for him to get his head in front. Alasoun rates the main danger and he is another who holds a Derby entry. He has to be respected but of slight concern would be the fact that he played up at the start last week prior to what would have been his racecourse debut. He was withdrawn that day and it remains to be seen how he conducts himself today on his belated racecourse bow. Bitter Chill stayed-on pleasingly on his debut at Newbury when third behind Jeu De Mot. He doesn't hold any fancy entries but he will handle some cut in the ground and if he improves for his debut effort then he should not be far away at the finish. John Gosden's Singular did nothing wrong on his debut at Leicester and is another to consider, although he will probably be better over further in time. This is a good race and we will side with Shariki who stands out as the one to beat.
