In depth

Verdict

Oblique has rattled up up four quick wins and is set to defy the handicapper again, with Double Deputy, Jeepstar and Mith Hill taken to chase her home. Sir Mark Prescott has really worked the oracle with Oblique since the three-year-old returned to action in August, sending out the daughter of Giant's Causeway to score off 66 in a Newcastle maiden. How much of a good thing must she have been that day, as since then she has rocketed up the weights with further victories at Beverley, Epsom and Musselburgh, that latest success coming off a rating of 87. She carries a six-pound penalty here, but as her breeding suggests that she will relish the extra two furlongs, the burden is unlikely to stop her from giving Seb Sanders another winner. It is difficult to know what to make of Double Deputy as the sky looked the limit after his two wins last season, but he bombed out badly on his second run back, at Newmarket last month. The visor is tried now in a bid to get his promising career back on track. Jeepstar went down battling to Balkan Knight at Haydock last time and should give another good account here despite topweight, and Mith Hill is worth a mention at least on his first outing since his rider lost his irons in the Ascot Stakes at York in June. Oblique is on a real roll at present though, and can make it five on the bounce.
