In depth

Verdict

A nightmare getting out stakes that mirrors the competitive nature of the rest of the card and the selection of Lieuday is made as much in hope as it is in expectation. The list of alternatives is headed by Parnassian, who has been knocking on the door of late and does not have much to find to go close in this company, while Big Bad Burt has a similar profile and it will interesting if he is backed accordingly. In contrast, the likes of Artistic Style and Springalong have a fair bit to do at the weights and are probably best watched on the terms of this contest. Which brings us nicely back to Lieuday, whose jockey, Ben Swarbrick, makes his task an easier one with his 5lb claim coming in to effect today. Swarbrick is one of the riding finds from recent times and he will do his growing reputation no harm at all if Lieuday responds well for him this afternoon.
