Shanahan bounced back to form last time out and is selected ahead of Arisea and Marigolds Way. The last named has plenty of experience of racing at Newton Abbot and is only 5lb higher in the weights than for his victory in a novices handicap here in May. This trip suits him well and Ron Hodges¿ charge has little to prove to force his way into the frame. Arisea was touched off by the selection in a seller here last month and merits respect on that effort alone. Still, he does have a bit to find on these terms and will need to pull out all the stops if he is going to reverse the form today. Therefore, it can pay to stick with Shanahan now that he his confidence has been boosted by a return to winning ways. Phillip Hobbs' gelding has a good record from his completed starts and, as this is hardly the strongest test he has faced in his career to date, Shanahan is fancied to strike again whilst he is so obviously on the boil.
