Verdict

Mick Easterby complicates matters by saddling two runners here with Uhuru Peak, who ran well over this trip at Yarmouth last time and is the mount of Serena Brotherton, marginally preferred to the consistent Emperor's Well but a better bet looks to be March Mate. The selection was disappointing at Catterick last month but Brian Ellison's gelding had run well when finding just one too good in each of his three previous starts and he looks the one to beat on that evidence. Kirstys Lad would have claims if fit enough for his first outing since December but he may be a shade too high in the weights. Apache Nation ran better at Nottingham last time and Michael Dods' string continues in good form so he has to be respected, while Valdan has run creditably of late and is another to consider. Several have chances but it is March Mate that gets the vote.
