In depth

Verdict

HARRIS TWEED is still improving judging by his Chester win and he is fancied to follow up today. William Haggas' colt was flattered by his margin of victory earlier in the month but his ability to maintain a strong gallop could be essential here. He has run well on both Newmarket courses and is expected to take some beating. Ted Spread drops in grade having finished last in the St Leger; any rain would suit but he has plenty to prove, especially under his Group Three penalty. The most interesting rivals look to be the fillies; Ship's Biscuit ran well behind Eastern Aria in the Park Hill Stakes and she is well-related, whilst Snoqualmie Star has strong handicapping form at shorter trips this year. Others to mention include Moose Moran who is back up in class and the unpredictable but talented Prizefighting who comes here on the back of a fair Doncaster run behind Myplacelater.
