Verdict

Any value has long gone on Dubawi, who could easily be the absolute star that Godolphin have been waiting for. It is folly to disrespect his claims and a saver option at evens or bigger is recommended with him. However, Oratorio appeals as an each-way alternative on his form with Democratic Deficit and he can make the well touted son of Dubai Millennium pull out all the stops. Stablemate Footstepsinthesand also has to come into the reckoning, as Kieren Fallon obviously prefers his claims. This unbeaten son of Giant's Causeway bolted up in a Group Three at The Curragh when he was last seen out and could indeed be the real deal. However, that form has taken a few knocks and he now comes into the race with something to prove. Rob Roy, Kandidate and especially Iceman were all unlucky in the Craven Stakes and make up a strong hand for the home-trained contingent. The first named has always been hailed as a potential star and is expected to make another bold bid today. Still, Iceman was severely hampered at a crucial stage 16 days ago and it is unlikely that Jimmy Fortune will make the same mistake again. He may well reverse that form. The Andrew Balding team are quietly confident of a big run from Diktatorial and he too could surprise a few now that he has strengthened up from last year. However, it is almost impossible to get away from the claims held by Dubawi, whose form is rock-solid from his juvenile campaign. A further play each-way with Oratorio at fancy odds can spice up what looks to be a contest that very much depends on how well Dubawi has trained on.
