In depth

Verdict

Banjo Patterson hinted at a return to form last time and may just be worth chancing here with Romany Nights and Prince Cyrano the most likely dangers. The selection ran his best race for a while when finishing third behind Adantino at Lingfield last time. He was wearing the first-time visor in that race and as it is on again here we are prepared to stick with him in the hope that it once again has the desired effect. Romany Nights is a course and distance winner and although he is thoroughly exposed and is probably better over further, he wasn't all that far behind our selection last time so has to be considered. Prince Cyrano will find this easier than the competitive handicap he ran in over this course and distance last time. He looks to have solid place claims along with the top-weight Don Pele. Kingscross is another who would have claims on the pick of his form but he is not in great heart at present and we prefer the claims of Banjo Patterson who gets the vote.
