Cavalryman ran in both the Coronation Cup and the Juddmonte International last year and was fourth on his reappearance in the Brigadier Gerard at Sandown. But he's yet to get his head in front for Saeed Bin Suroor, who is struggling for winners at present. Sabotage is also passed over on that account, while Afsare has proved disappointing this season. Allied Powers usually finds at least one too good at this level while Alwaary, Anmar and Jukebox Jury are all returning from lengthy breaks, though the latter is very capable of running well fresh and won an admittedly sub-standard Group 2 on the Rowley Mile course here just over a year ago. VERDANT was confined to handicaps last year and is taking a while to adapt to life at this higher level. But Sir Michael Stoute's colt is still improving and could progress enough on his third to Alainmaar at Ascot to take this.
