In depth

Verdict

Chef battled hard to defy a big weight in a handicap over a mile at Doncaster earlier this month but had finished behind Auld Burns, Measuring Time and Questioning over this trip on his reappearance on the Rowley Mile and may struggle to overturn that form today. Preference is for DOMINANT, who is a lot better than he showed when favourite for a Newbury handicap last month and is worth another chance. Malthouse is too high in the weights in handicaps now but has realistic claims in a race like this and makes more appeal than stablemate Stentorian. Jessica Harrington has sent over Oaks seventh Siren's Song and the filly should also go close with the drop in distance likely to suit but Lyric Street needs to step up on his maiden win if he's to get involved at the business end.
