    Verdict

Jack Dawson may provide the answer to a tricky Showcase handicap in which Inglis Drever, Pagan Dance and Reveillez rate as the main dangers. John Berry's charge proved a progressive staying handicapper last season, notching valuable events at both Hamilton and Musselburgh before sustaining an injury towards the end of the year. The Persian Bold gelding has shaped as though retaining all of his ability this term, despite racing over inadequate trips and on unfavourable rain-softened ground, and put up a creditable effort over two miles here last time. The selection remains well treated on the pick of his form and has nothing to fear from course and distance winner King Flyer who is held on latest form on identical terms. Inglis Drever is a rapidly improving type, who has won two of his three starts this term and should prove well suited by the step up in trip. Sir Mark Prescott's charge has shot up the weights but is relatively unexposed and may be capable of further progress. Reveillez has been a model of consistency this term and is anther who shapes as though this stiffer test of stamina will suit while recent track winner Pagan Dance is another who could prove even better over this longer trip but Jack Dawson has solid credentials and should give another good account with conditions in his favour.
