In depth

Verdict

Young Pretender would not need to be anything special to win this and he gets the vote ahead of Atheer Dubai and House. The selection, a 175,000 guineas son of Middle Park, July Cup and Nunthorpe winner Oasis Dream, represents a stable who certainly know how to ready a newcomer. John Gosden has his horses in fair form and the market should help guide. Brian Meehan has an interesting debutante in Manassas, whilst House is expected to step up on his debut run when finishing in midfield in a decent Goodwood maiden. Atheer Dubai brings the best form into the contest and this son of Dubai Destination drops in grade having contested two Group Two races of late. Battlecruiser may do better today now on more suitable ground but he doesn't look a world-beater and so we will side with Young Pretender to make a winning debut.
