Nonrunner

In depth

Verdict

Centreboard is a very interesting runner returning from a break, however Compton's Eleven knows how to win and Mick Channon's gelding gets the nod ahead of Paris Bell and Pic Up Sticks. The selection drops in grade today having been very disappointing at Newcastle last time out. All of his wins have come on good or faster ground and as long as the rain doesn't come in bucket-loads, he can be competitive off this mark of 83, having won off 98 before. Paris Bell tends to give himself too much to do by starting slowly but he should rate a danger, especially as in contrast to the selection he likes to get his toe in and the more rain the better. Middleton Grey should have come on for his recent outing so rates a danger, especially as his trainer Tony Newcombe has won this race twice in the last three years. Pic Up Sticks has winning course form and has won from five to seven furlongs so should go well, whilst Bridge It Jo has only won once in twelve starts but has the ability to pop up sooner rather than later. Calypso King and Star Strider are two more for consideration, however Compton's Eleven is fancied to land the spoils.
