In depth

Verdict

Spinning Queen can land this competitive renewal of the Sweet Solera stakes with Ice Princess and Confidential Lady chasing her home. Irish raider Ice Princess went off at 12-1 on her debut at Limerick but belied that price with a very good display, coming right away to win in impressive fashion. This daughter of Grand Lodge was very impressive but the strength of the form is open to doubt. Confidential Lady has won her last three for Sir Mark Prescott, and has to concede weight thanks to a Listed success last time. She will improve further when stepped up in trip, and although her chances are respected the weight concession may prove too much. Barry Hills has had a couple of disappointing two-year-olds this week, but Sinning Queen can end the week on a winning note for the Lambourn trainer. An impressive scorer on her Haydock debut, she was a little disappointing in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot at York, before returning to form with a close third in the Group Two Cherry Hinton. A reproduction of that effort may be good enough here and Spinning Queen is the selection.
