In depth

Verdict

A large but modest field for this handicap and we will give the vote to California Laws - Missperon and Percy Douglas are put forward as the dangers. Willie Haggas has booked Paul Hanagan for the selection who has shown plenty of promise this season. The gelding put in his best performance last time when a close up fifth behind Golden Asha in a slightly stronger race than this and with further improvement expected he looks the one to be on. Missperon is another that is going the right way. She finished third to Kensington at Ayr last time and with the yard continuing in great form she should make her presence felt. Percy Douglas is an outsider with a bit of a squeak. He has been running much better than his form figures suggest and his recent effort behind Brave Bear got a nice boost on Monday. Taboor is one of the more consistent runners here and may do best of the others, however California Laws has plenty of scope for improvement and gets the decision.
