Verdict

Eternal Luck, Mahusay and Lieutenant Pigeon are the three to look at here, with Eternal Luck given a narrow preference in a small but competitive affair. Mahusay won well on his Leicester debut, run in testing conditions. He was relatively unfancied that day, and the runner-up was then beaten slightly further by today's rival Eternal Luck. Although it is probably dangerous to take that form literally, Eternal Luck looks capable of further improvement. Being a son of Tagula, Eternal Luck would no doubt have preferred the ground to be softer than he encountered on his debut, but he showed a good turn of foot and will enjoy the cut underfoot. Lieutenant Pigeon was backed when he won on his Hamilton debut, and although finding the opposition too hot in the Listed Woodcote stakes next time, he is capable of bouncing back into form. However, in a tricky affair, Eternal Luck is taken to maintain his unbeaten status.
