Verdict

Vito Volterra was an easy enough winner last time out to suggest he can follow up under a revised mark but the ground seems to be turning against him and although fellow last time out winner Betsy will handle these conditions GINGER TED looks better treated and will like the cut in the ground and is given the vote in a tight handicap. With a good strike rate over this trip the selection was held less than a length off this rating last time out and with his best coming in similar conditions his chance is clear. Vito Volterra scored by just over three lengths on fast ground at Pontefract on his last run so while he should be capable of overcoming the disadvantage of having extra weight to carry the ground might be a little soft for him. Betsy has won in similar conditions and looks one of the more likely after a game performance to score last time but is now off a career high mark while Little Scotland is from a yard in form and should go better than on his first couple of handicap runs with some weight removed. A wide open contest but Ginger Ted's soft ground form gives him the nod.
