Verdict

A low grade handicap this time with not much winning form on show, First Maite is one of the more consistent in the field and is chosen to lead home Colway Ritz and Shatin Hero. This ten- year- old has been a great servant for the yard and is still in love with the game, as he showed when a close up third behind Melodian at Beverley last month. Colway Ritz, another old-timer, came back to somewhere near his best when running a gallant fourth to Tass Heel at Catterick last time and is certain to make a race of it. Shatin Hero also bounced back to form, with an emphatic victory in a seller at Ayr last week and is nicely handicapped. Geri Roulette will be another big threat if returning to her summer form, but in the end we'll have to side with First Maite.
