Verdict

Call Me Max can make a winning return, ahead of the likes of Communication, Bollin Michael and Wansdyke Lass. Although it is always prudent to watch rather than bet on animals returning to the fray, it is hard not to single out Call Me Max in this company on the strength of last season's efforts. Ed Dunlop's son of Vettori shaped well on all four starts as a three-year-old and will benefit from this step up in trip. Another furlong would not come amiss in fact, but this will do on his return and he should go well. Communication took time to get the hang of things at Warwick in the race won by Golden Fury who is trained by Ed's father John. The Johnston inmate will come on for that and is another that can run well here. Bollin Michael makes his debut and this well-related sort, a half-brother to the likes of Bollin Joanne and Bollin Eric, will pay to follow in time. Wansdyke Lass was fifth on her Newbury debut last year and is sure to have been well tuned up so is another to note, but we shall take a chance on the fitness of Call Me Max.
