In depth

Verdict

In a competitive finale, Wednesday's Boy is selected ahead of Son Of Thunder and Donna's Double. Wednesday's Boy was given a peach of a ride to score at Ayr 14 days ago and, even though he does not look straightforward and he has a six-pounds rise to defy, cannot be ruled out of a good run. First-time blinkers did the trick for Son Of Thunder over course and distance last time and, even though that win came in a seller, his chance is not dismissed, especially if the going is heavy. There is no doubt that Donna's Double, another course and distance winner, is on a competitive mark too, while Royal Flynn comes here on the back of a good run and, racing from a reasonable mark, should be given some thought, we feel. Tedstale Mac has the odd bit of form at this trip, but Ruby Legend has yet to cut it from a revised mark for winning and Turn Of Phrase is on a reasonable enough mark although he will need a stiff test at this trip. On balance, the likes of Typhoon Ginger, Melodian, who suggested at a return to form last time, course and distance winner Thornaby Green, who is not far above a winning mark, and Benny The Ball, who is stepping up in trip, can all have cases made for them but, overall, we will side with Wednesday's Child.
