In depth

Verdict

Zebra Crossing created a big impression when winning at Kempton on debut but, as he now has something to prove, we're going to side with Crescent Island. The selection won impressively over course and distance in January and produced a perfectly respectable performance on his next start when stepped up to two and a half miles at Chepstow. This drop in trip should be in his favour and he rates the solid option. Zebra Crossing was a smart horse on the Flat in South Africa and won well on debut but seemingly had no excuses when beaten over 20 lengths behind Pasco here in February. The ground is one possible excuse but the forecast conditions are similar so that may not be the case; in any event he has something to prove now. Quizzene is of most interest of the remainder but has plenty to find on the book and may fare better once handicapping. So, for the winner, we'll come back to Crescent Island.
