Elysee Palace, Upper Class and Palmerin make the shortlist in this tricky contest with the unexposed Elysee Palace taken to come out on top. Palmerin won over this course and distance last year, and subsequently ran two solid races in defeat, perhaps finding ten furlongs too far on his last start. Trainer Richard Hannon landed a double here last Saturday, so the long absence should not be a problem. Upper Class is six pounds higher than when scoring over a furlong shorter last time at Wolverhampton last month. He won with some authority, but the form is hard to weigh up, and he is opposed. Elysee Palace, a daughter of Kings Best and from a classy family, has shown ability in both her starts to date. She was unfancied when making her debut at Lingfield, but stayed on to good effect, and put the experience to good use when readily landing a maiden at the same track. Trainer Michael Jarvis has had a recent winner, and three placed runners, and Elysee Palace may be well enough treated to get off to a winning start for the season.
