      Verdict

      It was soft ground when Firmament finished second at Windsor and any further progress should see him thereabouts again but MIRACLE NINETYNINE has the stronger form. He only finished fifth here on last month's debut but three of those in front have subsequently won and Richard Hughes prefers him to Shell Bay. Scooner was well beaten on the all-weather on his introduction and the newcomers Duretto and Director may prove bigger threats.
