Verdict

Cesc has shown much improved form on the all-weather this winter but has shot up in the weights as a result so may now be best watched in a race taken to go to Aqmaar, with Escape Route rated the best of the rest. The selection made a winning start to his career when landing a course and distance maiden in July and, on the evidence of two subsequent starts in novice stakes races where he had 90 and 92 rated performers close by, the John Dunlop-trained colt looks on a fair mark. Top weight Everymanforhimself is more exposed than most of these and of more interest may be Paul Cole's Thunder Storm Cat, who was a decent winner of his maiden here over a furlong shorter last term. Henry Cecil's Wolverhampton scorer Phoenix Tower could be anything on his second start and his first on turf, along with John Gosden's Escape Route, who makes slightly more appeal. Princess Valerina has a nice racing weight and is another to consider but preference is for Aqmaar who looks to be on a fair mark.
