Verdict

Ice Tea excelled himself in a Listed contest at Aintree and a repeat of that could be good enough to land this novice event, with Otto Des Pictons the main danger. Donald McCain's gelding was well-backed on that occasion and having shown that he acts on this quicker ground, he could be hard to beat. He stays well and if gifted an early lead he could be hard to peg back. Otto Des Pictons is a promising novice and has shown plenty of promise in his five starts so far, although he is yet to get his head in front. This will be the quickest ground that he has encountered so far but if he handles it he should be thereabouts at the finish. Benny The Piler demonstrated his liking for good ground when winning on his penultimate start at Kelso so he certainly cannot be left out of calculations, whilst Ever So Slightly completes the lineup and shapes as though this step up in trip will suit. In a race where none of the runners can be ruled out, Ice Tea gets the tentative vote.
