Verdict

Panzer gets a tentative vote over Top Brass, New Mischief and Silverio in an open looking start to proceedings. Ginger McCain has had a terrific season so far, and could be set for more success here with Panzer who has shaped well on all three starts to date. A middle-distance winner at Newmarket for Roger Charlton, the five-year-old clearly did not like Towcester's stiff finish last time, fading into fourth place behind Molostiep, and will be much more at home on this course. The penny should have well dropped by now, and he should go close. Top Brass recovered from a neck problem to open his account at Musselburgh and of course the Reveley stable seldom wastes petrol money coming down here so he has to be on the short-list. New Mischief was a decent bumper animal three years ago but has yet to fulfil his potential over timber, while Silverio hails from a stable in a bit of form at present, and looks fairly well treated. For the winner we return to Panzer.
