In depth

Verdict

Stellite comes into this having won both starts this term, both here over seven furlongs, the step up to a mile should not inconvenience Jim Goldie's gelding but a 5lb rise in the weights may prevent him from winning again and preference is for Champain Sands, who gets the vote with King of The Moors rated the pick of the remainder. The selection stepped up on his reappearance effort when chasing home Stoic Leader at Carlisle last week and has solid claims off just a 1lb higher mark today. Linda Perratt's Jamieson Gold has shown gradual improvement with racing this term but needs to improve again to trouble the judge, while Tender Moments was well held on her return and looks best watched at present. David Barron's King of The Moors has run better in his last two starts and has to be considered but Champain Sands has solid claims and he is preferred.
