      Verdict

      This doesn’t look a strong contest and BATAAR may prove good enough handicapping for the first time. Richard Fahey’s charge could only manage sixth at Newcastle on last month’s return to action but that looks a better effort in hindsight given three of those in front have subsequently won. He gets the vote on that form with Arletta Star stepping back up in distance after a fourth over 6f, though Howzer Black should finish closer back in this lower grade. Smile A Mile was gelded after a modest handicap debut effort at Sandown in September and may be capable of better this year.
