    Verdict

A competitive field goes to post for the summer plate and many have chances on their best form, Il Capitano, Chicuelo, Brother Joe and Ballycassidy are all sure to have their supporters and we will take a chance on Ballycassidy. The gelding from the Peter Bowen yard is an improving novice and his lates win over Pietro Bembo suggests he could have been let in lightly off this mark for his first try in handicap company. Chicuelo won this race last year but runs off a much higher mark here and that may just catch him out. Il Capitano fell early when sent off favourite over course and distance last time but fell at the third. If his confidence has not been effected he will not be far away. Brother Joe would win this easily if it were a hurdle race and he has been in fair form over fences. However he has never been in a race as competitive over fences and he may not enjoy the hustle and bustle so he is opposed on this occasion. Of the remainder Kaki Crazy has found a new lease of life since changing yards and he looks to be on a fair mark so it would be no surprise if he were to run a good race at a big price. Goldstreet is an Irish raider who is another that is worth noting in the market but we are happy to stick with Ballycassidy.
