In depth

Verdict

Bureaucrat gets the vote in this contest with Monash Lad and Slew Charm rated as the main dangers. The selection would have made a winning debut over hurdles had he not fallen at the final flight at Ludlow when clear of Fabulous Jet. He looks the type to have a future over hurdles and he should take plenty of beating in this company. Monash Lad rates the main danger as he was a fair third behind Bayard at Fakenham last time. He looked a little one-paced that day but he was a fair sort on the flat and he is not one to discard too easily at this stage in his career over hurdles. Slew Charm was a fair third behind Dear Villez last time out but all his best form has been on a softer surface and for that reason we will take him on. Solarias Quest was pulled-up last time but is from a yard that merits plenty of respect so he is worth nothing in the market, but for the winner we are happy to return to Bureaucrat.
