Verdict

Scales makes a quick reappearance after just failing to hang on over 2m5f at Warwick on Thursday, the same trip as when successful on this track earlier. He could find this on the short side but is still likely to be thereabouts. Nafaath hadn't ben running well before landing a minor handicap at Sedgefield and a 7lb rise looks harsh while Hill Fort was a big disappointment when a beaten favourite at Exeter. Badilou won a couple of very minor races in France and hasn't shown much in two starts for new connections and though Goal has a chance at his best one victory from 27 starts over timber doesn't read well for the nine-times Flat winner. LAKE CHAPALA never won in Ireland and was well beaten on his debut for Tim Vaughan at Taunton but that should have blown the cobwebs away and he's on a low enough mark to be handed the vote in a moderate contest.
