Verdict

The draw is in the favour of SPEEDY GURU and she can get the better of Perfect Friend and Queen of Thebes. Henry Candy's 3-year-old filly looked like one to stay on the right side of when she won at Pontefract back in October. She has not been seen out since, but if she is fit enough to do herself justice on her seasonal bow she should run a big race. Perfect Friend is a model of consistency but the draw is far from ideal and the suspicion is that the handicapper may now be catching up with her. Queen Of Thebes would have claims on the form she showed as a juvenile, but she has been a little disappointing so far this season. Clive Cox has his string in good form so his course and distance winner Lighthearted could go well at a price, but Speedy Guru looks a smart prospect and she gets our vote.
