Verdict

It's hard to get too enthusiastic about most of these on what we so far know and for us the shortlist consists of Lady Erica, Alice King, Story Of One and Smokincanon, with the vote going to Story Of One. The selection hails from the in-form Nick Littmoden stable and the colt showed plenty of promise when second to Why Harry at Beverley on his debut. Although well beaten next time, that defeat came on testing going. A drop to selling company for the first time should see him bounce back to form and he looks to hold a good chance. Smokincanon has already won over course and distance and the form of that success is pretty solid. He too looks to hold a very good chance with Alice King, who had shown promise before flopping in a seller last time, while Lady Erica's form in two runs prior to a very disappointing Wolverhampton run last time put her firmly in the shake-up. These appear to be the principals, although watch for a market move on Jonny Fox'S, with the vote going to Story Of One.
