Verdict

This is not a straightforward handicap but Henesey's Leg gets out vote ahead of Lara Falana and Fling. The selection looked to have improved from three to four when scoring at the first time of asking this season at Warwick on soft going last time. As such, especially as Lisa Jones takes off three of the five pounds she has been raised for that success, she could well follow up on going we know she handles. Lara Falana won from a three-pound higher mark at Kempton in May of last year so has to be given a chance on that basis, while Fling must have been difficult to assess based on her very easy win in a Southwell maiden over this trip on good to soft 36 days ago. As they say, she could be anything, particularly now that her aversion to stalls entry seems to have been resolved. Whilst having run well from higher marks than today, Doris Souter is still five pounds higher in the ratings than for her best winning mark, and while Lady McNair has not won since her two-year-old days, she would not be the first filly on which Kieren Fallon has worked the kid-glove oracle. Overall, Jubilee Treat has been disappointing since scoring at Ripon last August but Tight Squeeze is reasonably weighted on her all-weather form, but not her Turf form, and is closely weighted with Doris Souter based on February Polytrack form. It's a race of many variables but we'll take a chance that Henesey's Leg has more to come.
