Verdict

Probably not as strong as the first division, but competitive nonetheless. Halland Park Lad has yet to prove as effective on this surface as he is on the slower Fibresand, but if he does handle the track he shouldn't be far away, while a similar comment can also be made for the one-eyed Belinda, three times a winner on the Fibresand. The maiden Rock'N Cold will certainly find this easier than when chasing Marble Arch and company home last week, but it is hard to see him getting his head in front on this 21st attempt. Three times a course winner, once over this trip, Summer Cherry is a likely sort. He goes well for his Amateur, who has won twice on him and can actually run off a lower mark than when last successful here. However, Beyond The Pole looks the one to beat. Brett Johnson's ex-Irish gelding is clearly nowhere near as good as he was, but he shaped quite nicely in a claimer here earlier this month and a reproduction of that effort would make him hard to beat here.
