Verdict

MASTER JAKE, who won two point-to-points in Ireland in the spring, was a long odds-on chance for his hurdling debut for new connections at Hexham and duly obliged. He looks to have been well bought for £15,000 and can defy his penalty. Connections had to go to double that amount to get prise Alberta out of Gordon Elliott's yard after he was an impressive winner of a Downpatrick bumper in March. The form has worked out poorly but he's joined a yard that can get one ready so the lack of a recent run shouldn't be a problem. Wabanaki easily landed a Ffos Las bumper on testing ground in February but couldn't cope with quicker going in Grade 2 company at Aintree in April and makes his hurdling debut. The four-year-old On Demand gets plenty of allowances on his debut but he'll need to step up markedly on his form on the Flat to get involved.
