Any support for the long absent Carlarajah would have to be taken seriously but his task is far from straightforward facing, as he does, some experience campaigners with plenty of all-weather form to their names. Golden Desert is one of the oldest of them but is still more than capable of being a factor at this level while the year younger Shifting Star has slipped to a handy mark and hasn't been shaping too badly of late. However, it may be worth taking a chance that the cheekpieces can spur MENELIK onto greater deeds; he's just 4lbs higher than when winning at Wolverhampton and could benefit from another forceful ride.
