In depth

Verdict

Park Ave Princess and Sonderborg have very similar claims here, but the dark horse could be The Stick, and this one gets our vote. Mick Channon's filly has got a fair handicap mark after running moderately in three maidens on the turf last season. In each of those events the jockey didn't give her a hard time, and as she is by Singspiel we expect her to improve with age. The best recent form is provided by Park Ave Princess who chased home Joy And Pain over course and distance a fortnight ago. She is a model of consistency and deserves to win a race of this nature. The same applies to Sonderborg who has been knocking on the door in recent events here and at Wolverhampton. Of the others Sonderborg's stable-mate Kryssa could be anything after winning a five furlong maiden here last time, but we are looking for value here and The Stick may just provide it.
