    Verdict

The vote here goes to Musical Romance, with Bathwick Alice, Halcyon Lodge and Tryandstopme. It is hard to escape the claims of the Brian Meehan-trained selection, who cost 130,000 guineas and whose dam is a half-sister to the top class Ali Royal and Sleepytime. The market, of course, will provide a guide as to her chance, but she still rates the best option for us at this stage. Bathwick Alice hails from a stable that has done well with its juveniles this season and is another to consider, while Halcyon Lodge showed promise on her debut and, with the fourth having won since and seemingly sure to improve for that run, she must be granted all due respect. In Hope was disappointing on her debut but reappears quickly, but Magical World was behind Halcyon Lodge on her debut. Smooch made eyecatching late headway on her Lingfield debut and can improve again, but she has five-and-three-quarter lengths to find on Tryandstopme from that race. The latter holds claims here but, for the selection, we stick with Musical Romance.
